Log House

Log House (also referred to as Block House or Blockhouse), is a construction technique historically prevalent throughout northern Europe and the Alpine region. Traditionally, it involves assembling the walls by stacking logs of wood with intersecting corners, using an interlocking technique known as Blockbau in German. Nowadays, the logs are often squared or, as in this case, replaced with glulam beams for added strength, but the principle behind the structural assembly and its undeniable charm remain unchanged. 

Near Studen Kladenets, the artificial lake not far from the Greek border, LOG HOMES PRO, a Bulgarian company specialising in this technique, is currently building a very suggestive private home. One of the most highly appreciated Rothoblaas solutions was SKORPIO, which allows the timber elements to be quickly tightened before being permanently fastened. Selected for its flexibility and ease of use, the WASP hook with timber screws was used to lift the beams. Even JELLY, the painting machine, is now significantly faster and more efficient on site, enjoying positive feedback with regard to its functionality and performance. For fastening, LOCK T concealed connectors, WKR tensile angle brackets and a selection of advanced fasteners were used, which simplified assembly and guaranteed stability even with this unique construction system.
