From design to assembly in manufacturing, passing through production:LOCK T MIDI
and ALUMIDI are the perfect connectors for the pre-installation and they prove it in this plant in Australia.
Vicbeam Laminated Timber Specialists manufactured the beams and installed the connectors, thus turning the Barwon Heads project by SMARTBuild Engineering PTY LTD into reality: a wonderful example of Design for Manufacture with GLULAM beams and columns.
The combination of beams and columns in GLULAM and Evissa SIP panels required a connection solution that ensured millimetre precision, quick assembly, and absence of thermal bridges.
Vicbeam Laminated Timber Specialists has pre-installed the connectors directly at the plant, optimizing the construction process with design for manufacturing, which included integrated design, right from the factory.
LOCK T and ALUMIDI: speed and precision in prefabrication.
One of the main principles of Design for Manufacturing involves installing as many construction elements as possible, from connections to insulating layers, directly in the production phase so that on-site it is sufficient to assemble the different modules to reduce the risk of errors and accelerate the times. For this project and with these assumptions, the following have been chosen:
LOCK T MIDI: the innovative hook plate for completely concealed timber-to-timber joints that ensures exceptional strength.
It can be easily disassembled, is ideal for the construction of small structures and can be used concealed even with elements of reduced section.
Optimal for post-and-beam systems, carports, pergolas or slabs, in both indoor and outdoor applications.
ALUMIDI: the bracket for timber produced by extrusion, therefore without welds. Certified and calculated in all directions (vertical, horizontal and axial), it can be used in seismic and deviated bending zones.
Once installed it is concealed providing a satisfying appearance to the joint and it fulfils the fire safety requirements. It is featured by optimal hole spacing both for timber (nails or screws) and reinforced concrete (chemical or screwed anchor) joints. Values are certified, tested and consolidated.
